Top on My List

I am sure that we will not know the impact that we have had on the lives of individual people until we stand before Our Maker and he says “Thank You” after he reruns the scenes of our lives before us.  Every one of us can shine like the stars in the arena of talent that Our Father has given us.

Maybe you are the one that can give that unforgettable, caring smile, hand shake, word of encouragement, whistle, or song.  Maybe you are a great cook.  I’m not, but I can sure clean up after the cooks are done!  Some might be gifted to accomplish notable engineering feats or to protect dignitaries so that they can function in their gifting.

After Jesus had died, was resurrected, and returned in a cloud to Heaven, two of his disciples went to the temple for their regular time of prayer.  A man, who had been born crippled and could not work, was laid everyday by the gate of the temple by his friends so that those entering could help support him with their gifts.  The cripple man asked for a gift from the disciples as they entered.

That day they didn’t have any money with them, so they gave what they had.  “I don’t have any money today, but God’s power works through my life, so get up and be healed in Jesus Name.”  Peter helped the man to stand and faith made him whole.  Undoubtedly Jesus had walked that way many times before, but know that often, there is a purpose and timing for everything.

When Moses had to lead a nation out of slavery, he felt unworthy, unqualified, and speechless. The Almighty told him that all he had to do was use what was in his hand.  In the case of Moses, it was his shepherd’s rod. With God, little becomes much.  Use what you have been given and together we will do more.

Michael Hancock
Denver District 11 Councilman Michael Hancock

My youngest son, Caleb Martinez, is a political science major at CU Denver.

Councilman Hancock was the first to reach out on his own and offer Caleb an internship in his Distrrict 11 Council Office in 2009.  Besides being a leader, an experienced Councilman, and a person of excellence, Mr. Hancock cares about people.

Now that he has decided to run for Mayor, we are thrilled to participate in this endeavor.

Surgeons

Help from the Lord and answers to prayer often times come in unexpected packages.   Recently, in my opinion, I faced a challenging health issue.  I have come to appreciate the compassion, commitment, years in training, and expertise that some have been willing to endure in order to improve, prolong, and preserve human life.

Some of these persons are Dr. Anthony J. LaPorta and his staff.   My heart mirrors words that the Apostle Paul told the Corinthian Church in the ninth chapter of 2 Corinthians.  Paul told them that the gifts they gave caused others, because of the much needed blessings received, to give thanksgiving to God.  Thank you for your gifts in the field of medicine and may God Bless You.
